60’s fashion and the GO-Go boots and Different
Hairstyles The 60’s fashion saw many ground breaking
achievements that went in the history books of fashion world as
milestones. The miniskirt, pillbox hat, bikini and the bell-bottomed
pants are among the very important fashion styles of this period.
Footwear too, gained importance in this era with the Go-Go boots gaining
high popularity in this decade of golden era for fashion. These
low-heeled boots were the most famous footwear for women with many
opting for its unique style and outgoing attitude that it displayed.
If attitude and expressing yourself is the theme, then the 60’s will
remain as the biggest contender for that title. It was showing what you
are and the combination of Go-Go boots with miniskirts was apparently
lethal. The best fashion combination of dress and footwear has been
invented until today was this one. With most of the women opting for
this wonderful style there was no stopping this combination from
becoming world famous and remaining the classic combination irrespective
of time and changes in the fashion world. The Go-Go boots were able to
cover nearly one third of the leg and thus, it seemed perfect to pair
them with the miniskirt.
In fact, stores in 60’s have started selling combination of three
things together. A miniskirt and a top, with matching Go-Go boots, and
pillbox hat was a complete package that was available at attractive
prices. This package became an instant hit with many and the popularity
of these Go-Go boots soared in the 60’s. These boots had a chiseled,
round or pointed toe and was first adopted by dancers in the 60’s. A
side or back zipper was quite common for fastening these boots. This
style of footwear is still quite common today with new modifications
transforming the looks of these boots. Laces have become quite common
for fastening these types of boots in the modern world and it gives a
very elegant look to these boots.
Apart from these, the 60’s fashion saw many other innovations as well
in terms of fashion. The tie and dye shirts were quite common by the end
of the decade and was a mark of the hippie look that prevailed since
then. Colorful headbands came into being, with men and women, opting for
this headgear. This tremendously increased the hippie culture during the
late 60’s. Men’s hat went out of fashion in the 60’s and the bandanas
and scarves became the popular headgear for men.
60’s fashion was all about changing hairstyle and facial hair to
evolve and go for different types of looks. The 60’s hairstyle saw birth
of the Afro style, in which the hair grows out naturally from the head
in the shape of a halo and extends in diameter for a considerable
amount. This 60’s hairstyle was quite common among the persons from an
African descent. This cloud or ball shaped hairstyle became quite
popular with many rock and roll stars adopting them. The Afro wig was
also available and became quite popular as well, since the huge halo
type structure of the hair took some time to attain and was not possible
for many to achieve.
The women’s beehive style was another famous 60’s hairstyle that was
quite popular in the 60’s. The long hair culture of the 60’s fashion was
responsible for this style of hairdo. The beehive or B-52 hairstyle
depicted the structure of a beehive or the nose of B-52 bomber. Among
men, the Mop-top hairstyle was quite common. Facial hair too saw many
changes in the 60’s fashion. From extended sideburns, to a goatee to
full length beard the style evolved to attain a hippie look by the end
of the 60’s decade. |
